Biography
Scotty and the Stars is a children’s musical entertainment group that delivers positive messages, active participation and musical education through original music and enthusiastic live performances. Scott Sampson and Andy Cotter provide a musical and theatrical experience for children aged 1 to 10 that exposes them to many different instruments (guitar, bass, drums/percussion, mandolin, etc) and visual props. Children will march, stomp, clap and dance their way through this interactive and fun filled musical journey.
This rock based new age children’s music is layered with positive messages of helping each other out, being active, working together, and enjoying every aspect of life. Both Scott (BED/BA) and Andy (B/K) are young university graduates who have taught in the public and private sectors of education, worked in after school programs, daycares, summer camps and volunteered within the public school system. The idea for a children’s band was inspired by years of teaching, coaching and working with kids on all different levels and ages. This natural direction of connecting with children made composing children’s music a life changing transition for the duo.
The Stars perform original songs that are educational, interactive, and even silly at times, creating music that children can really connect with. Scott and Andy continue to refine their musical abilities playing across Canada in one of New Brunswick’s premiere bands - Chillin’Room (www.chillinroom.com). Scotty and the Stars spent 2006 and 2007 performing throughout the Maritimes at community and school events including Music New Brunswick week, Canada Day, New Brunswick Day, YMCA summer camps, daycares and various elementary schools. The fall release of their first full length album entitled “Here We Go!” is an exciting step for Scotty and the Stars as they hope to expand their music across North America and pursue a career in children’s musical entertainment.
